Hi Everyone,
I’m Selena aka Bush Girl, and contrary to popular belief, I’m not Australian, but British, living in London with my husband and 3 gorgeous, tiring, exasperating, wonderful children. I started paper scrapping in 2005 when I lived in Singapore, had easy access to supplies as well as ample extraordinary photographic experiences, and only vaguely dabbled in dark side! Since moving back to London last year, where there is not one scrapbook shop in the entire city, digital scrapping has been my all consuming passion.
Now here’s a little more about me:
I am happiest when….the kids have gone to school and the house is quiet so I can scrap. Isn’t that awful! But it makes me appreciate them more when they come home. At least, that’s the theory!
Summer or winter? Neither, I’m a spring & autumn kind of girl. After living in the Tropics where it’s unrelentingly hot & steamy 365 days a year, I yearned for autumn. And spring. But mostly autumn.
What inspires me to scrap? I nearly always start with the story, and it’s usually about my kids, although it might be a good photo may triggers the story I want to tell. I include journaling on almost every page I make.
Coffee or wine? Neither really. I drink both, but not all that often. Although no English rose, I do like a good cup of tea. Oh, and Diet Coke.
Software used: I use Photoshop Elements V4 for Mac and Lightroom. I find Lightroom can create some wonderful photographic effects that would otherwise be quite hard to achieve in PSE as actions tend not to work well in this programme.
The very first item I every bought from Oscraps was made by Nina, and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. I was over the moon when I joined her CT in December 2008 and have had such fun getting to know the other girls – and of course, getting to play with Nina’s awesome products. One of my favourite items are her templates. They are very simple and as such are much more versatile than many I’ve used. These two layouts both use Unique The Simple Line No 8 but are quite different in execution.

Another aspect of Nina’s designs that I love is the “decayed grunginess” of some items. Her photo masks are just about the best in the business and I absolutely love her off white papers in kits like Blanchatre and e.s.c.a.p.e.

And so now for my challenge….. it was my birthday this week so it got me thinking about birthdays and scrapping and how we always seem to scrap about someone else’s birthday – our child, our partner, our parent’s, even our pets. But we seldom scrap about our own birthdays. And more specifically, we seldom scrap about a birthday memory. We all have them, tucked in the back of our minds. So dig in there, pull out a memory from a birthday past (it can be good, bad, funny, sad) and tell us about it. A photo is not necessary, but if you do use one it needn’t be of you, it could be something abstract but related to birthdays. Include some journaling – we want to know your story. And use a piece of the free wordart Nina has created especially for this challenge, available here.
Please post your layout, using at least 50% of Nina’s products, into Nina’s gallery at Oscraps. For every layout you create for this challenge you will be entered into a random draw to win a $5 coupon to Nina's Oscraps store. Just don't forget to leave us a comment here with a link to your LO or over at Oscraps before Midnight, November 22nd (EST)!
Have fun!
